Admission Process

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year will open on October 1st and close on January 7th. The application link will be posted here

Admission information

  • Applications are for current 8th grade and 9th grade students

  • Student transcripts will be pulled from their current schools

  • Students will be asked to answer two short answer questions 

    • Why do you want to be a part of the Sprayberry STEM academy​

    • What STEM clubs/activities have you been a part of

  • Student's teacher's will be contacted for recommendations/information about student's potential​

  • After January 7th, student applications will be reviewed. Those students that move on to the next step will be asked to sit in with a short interview with Dr. Oldham (held at the student's home school). 

  • Students will be informed about their acceptance status on January 29

Current Student Requirements

Below are the current expectations for STEM academy students

Requirements

  • Students will maintain an electronic portfolio which documents their STEM learning inside and outside the classroom

  • Students will be in honors math/science classes and must complete at least one AP course in math and science

  • Students will select and complete one STEM pathway

    • Computer Science ​

    • Healthcare Science

    • Engineering

    • Advanced Science

  • Students will participate in one STEM club and one STEM competition per year​

  • Students will complete a minimum of 8 volunteer hours per year

  • Students will take AP Seminar in junior year and AP Research in senior year
