Discord Channel

All STEM students must participate online in the discord channel a minimum of once per week. There are dedicated channels for each cohort (classes of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) as well as channels for STEM topics.  Students must fill out the code of conduct form (found on the forms link or by clicking the icon above) in order to be added to the STEM discord channel

Volunteer Hours

All STEM students required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer work during their high school career.  Click the link above for current volunteer opportunities.

Senior Capstone project (class of 2021)

Every member of the class of 2021 will complete a unique senior capstone project.  Click the icon above to download the rubric for different options in completing the Capstone.  Students can choose to focus on an internship, research, or construction/production with each option tailored to their STEM passions.  Each project will be assessed at the end of the year by a team of academic and community STEM partners

Remind

All STEM students must be signed up for the Academy remind. The code is @GoSHSStem . I send out notifications and messages often and this is the platform used to communicate with all students

Every STEM student must participate in a STEM club (in school or outside of school) as well as compete in at least one STEM competition per year. Click on the icon above to see current options for clubs and competitions.

Freshmen

This year you will focus on

  • Finding a STEM club to be a part of

  • Finding a STEM competition to be a part of (can be a competition linked to your STEM club)

  • Actively participating in the STEM Discord channel

  • Focusing on STEM academics

  • Completing your STEM digital portfolio

Sophomores

This year you will focus on

  • Being a member of STEM club 

  • Competing in STEM event (this year you can start work on International Science Fair ISEF work to continue throughout high school)

  • Applying to Governor's Honors Program

  • Actively participating in the STEM Discord channel

  • Focusing on STEM academics

Juniors

This year you will focus on

  • AP Seminar! Spring Semester

  • Being a member of STEM club 

  • Competing in STEM event (continuing work on ISEF from previous year)

  • Applying to Governor's Honors Program

  • Actively participating in the STEM discord channel

  • Taking SAT/ACT

  • Focusing on STEM academics

Seniors

This year you will focus on

  • SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT. There are multiple different options, click here to see which senior model fits your needs best.

  • Applying to college

  • Being a member of STEM club 

  • Competing in STEM event (continuing work on ISEF from previous year)

  • Actively participating in the STEM discord channel
